From Formula to Bottle: How Reytha's Products Are Made — And Why Manufacturing Transparency Matters
Most brands treat their manufacturing process as a trade secret. We think it should be the opposite — and here's why.
Buy any shampoo from any major brand in India and you will find, buried in small text on the back label, the words: 'Manufactured by [company name], [address]'. Most people have never read this. It's treated as regulatory compliance text — something required by law, not something of interest.
We think this is backwards. The manufacturing story behind a personal care product is one of the most important things a consumer can know. It tells you whether the formula was made in a facility that operates under quality control standards. It tells you whether the product you received is the same product that was formulated and tested. It tells you whether the company behind the brand has actual accountability in the supply chain — or is simply a marketing entity outsourcing everything to an unknown third party.
So here is Reytha's manufacturing story — told in full.
"Transparency is not a marketing tactic for us. It's a design principle. That includes being transparent about where and how our products are made."
Why We Don't Manufacture Our Own Products — And Why That's Right for This Stage
Reytha is a young brand. We are honest about this. We do not own a manufacturing facility. Building and operating a licensed cosmetics manufacturing facility in India requires significant capital investment, regulatory infrastructure, and operational expertise that is not the highest-value use of our resources at this stage of our brand's development.
This is not unusual — the majority of personal care brands in India, including many well-known names, operate on a contract manufacturing model. What varies is the level of transparency about this arrangement and the rigour with which brands choose and manage their manufacturing partners.
For Reytha, contract manufacturing is a strategic choice — not a shortcut. It allows us to focus on what we do best (formulation philosophy, ingredient selection, product experience, and brand building) while partnering with an established, licensed manufacturer who brings production expertise, regulatory compliance infrastructure, and quality control systems.
Our Manufacturing Partner: Shine Industries
Reytha's current shampoo and conditioner range is manufactured by Shine Industries, located at Plot No. 123, Sector 5, IMT Manesar, Gurugram, Haryana 122052, India.
This information is on the back label of every Reytha product. It is not hidden. We print it because we believe you have the right to know where your hair care product was made.
IMT Manesar (Indian Manufacturing Town, Manesar) is one of India's most established industrial manufacturing zones — home to automotive, pharmaceutical, and personal care manufacturing facilities that export globally. Choosing a manufacturer in an established industrial zone with regulatory infrastructure is a deliberate quality signal.
What a Cosmetics Manufacturing Licence Actually Means
Reytha's products are manufactured under Licence No. MH/COS/1234. In India, cosmetics manufacturing licences are issued under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and the Rules made thereunder. A cosmetics manufacturing licence requires:
• Premises that meet the minimum standards for a cosmetics manufacturing facility — including specified areas for raw material storage, manufacturing, quality control, and finished goods storage
• Qualified technical staff — a licensed cosmetics manufacturer must have qualified personnel responsible for production and quality control
• Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliance — the facility must operate under documented quality management systems that ensure consistency between batches
• Product-specific testing — each product must be tested for safety, stability, and (where applicable) efficacy before it is authorised for manufacture and sale
When you see a cosmetics manufacturing licence number on a product label in India, it means the product was not made in someone's garage. It was made in a facility that passed regulatory inspection and operates under documented quality standards.
What a Batch Number Tells You
Every Reytha product carries a batch number — Batch No. Hf002 on our current production run. Batch numbers are not random. They tie every bottle to a specific production run, with a documented record of:
• The raw material lots used (tracing every ingredient back to its supplier)
• The production date and production team
• The in-process quality control checks performed during manufacturing
• The finished product testing results before release
If there is ever a quality issue with a Reytha product — if a bottle somehow left our facility with a problem — the batch number allows us to trace exactly which production run it came from, identify every other unit from that run, and take appropriate action.
This is not theoretical. Batch traceability is the mechanism that enables product recalls when they are necessary. It is the foundation of product accountability.
What 'Marketed by Reytha' Means
On every Reytha label, you will see two separate entities:
• Manufactured by: Shine Industries, Haryana — the entity that physically produces the product
• Marketed by: Reytha, 123 Green Park, New Delhi 110016, India — the entity that owns the brand, the formulation, and the customer relationship
This distinction is standard in the Indian cosmetics industry. Reytha holds the brand rights, the formula rights, and the regulatory responsibility for the products sold under the Reytha name. Shine Industries is our production partner, operating under our formula specifications and quality standards.
Reytha is responsible for everything that goes into the bottle — the ingredient selection, the formulation philosophy, the quality standards, and the claims made on the label. If there is ever a problem with a Reytha product, the accountability lies with Reytha — not with the manufacturing partner.
How We Quality Check Our Products
Before any Reytha product reaches a customer, it goes through:
• Formula stability testing: Samples from every production batch are stored at accelerated ageing conditions (elevated temperature and humidity) to confirm the formula maintains its properties throughout the stated shelf life (24 months from manufacturing date for Reytha products)
• pH verification: Every batch is tested to confirm the formula pH falls within the specified range for scalp safety
• Microbiological testing: Testing confirms the preservation system is effective and the product meets the microbial contamination limits required for cosmetics
• Sensory evaluation: Appearance, colour, odour, and texture are checked against the established standard for that product — ensuring every bottle looks and feels like the reference formula
• Label compliance check: Every label on every batch is reviewed to ensure compliance with Indian cosmetics labelling regulations before release
Why This All Matters for You
When you buy a Reytha product, you're not just buying a bottle of shampoo with a nice label. You're buying a product that was made in a licensed facility, under a documented formula, from traceable ingredient lots, tested before release, and sold by a brand that puts its address on the label and stands behind everything it makes.
That's not the standard everywhere. Some products in the Indian market — particularly those sold through informal channels or social commerce without regulatory compliance — are made in conditions that cannot make these assurances.
Reytha's manufacturing transparency is not a boast. It's a baseline. We believe every personal care product should be this accountable. We're starting with ourselves.
